The year 2010 was a milestone year for NãmaSmaran. It marked the beginning of a new decade filled with festivities and enthusiasm. The 10 days long, 10^th year celebrations commenced on 23^rd October evening with the reception of Bhagavathars with Poorna Kumbam in a procession from Odukkathur Mutt. Inauguration of the year’s festival was followed by honouring of Bhagavathars: Brahmarsri K S Mallikarjuna Bhagavathar (Chennai) and Brahmarsri V Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar (ITI, Bangalore). Seetharama Mandir at Gangadhara Road, Bangalore, overflowed with many a devotee on all the days of NãmaSmaran 2010. The crowd sat back and enjoyed a captivating bhajan by Kovai Sri Jayarama Bhagavathar, the first Bhajan of decennial celebrations. The following day Sedalapathi Sri A Soundararaja Bhagavathar & Party sung the praise of God set to compelling tunes, after which members of Sri Radhakrishna Madar Bhajan Mandali, led by Smt Ponnammal & Smt Pichammal, Tirunelveli, performed poignantly. Thiruvisanallur Sri G Ramakrishna Bhagavathar & Party’s musical treat was the last event of that day.

The next five days had one Bhajan programme lined up every evening.  Here is the list of the artists who sung mellifluous, yet powerful Bhajans during the week days: Manjapara Sri Mohan Bhagavathar, Kadayanallur Sri Rajagopala Bhagavathar, Sri A V K Rajasimmhan Bhagavathar, Maayavaram Sri Muthukrishna Bhagavathar and Kadalur Sri Gopi Bhagavathar. After Sri Purandaradasa Jayanthi Uthsavam on 29^th October, the weekend was replete with pleasurable and melodically charmed events. Saturday’s events began with a passionate rendition of Ashtapadis in Thanjavur Sri Tyagaraja Bhagavathar’s majestic voice. The other events on this day included Panchapadi, Dhyanam, Pooja, Divayanamam and Dolothsavam by the reputed Udayaloor Sri Kalayanarama Bhagavathar.

Unchavrithi followed by Guru Pooja to Kumbakonam Brahmarsri E K Srinivasa Bhagavathar and Cheranmahadevi Brahmarsri Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar in the presence of H H Sri Sri Vidyanarayana Theertha Swamigal and H H Sri Sri Ramananda Saraswathi Swamigal gave a divine initiation to Sri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathaswamy Jayanthi celebrations.  Following this Sri Radha Madhava Kalyana Uthsavam was rendered musically by Erode Sri Rajamani Bhagavathar. In the evening, a concordantly enjoyable Bhajan by Sri V V Radhakrishana Bhagavathar preceded a procession with photo of Poojyasri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathaswamy accompanied by Bhajans. The 10^th day was signified by Anjaneya Uthsavam. After Abhishekam and Archanai to Lord Anjaneya, bhajans were rendered by members of Kalyan Nagar Bhajan Mandali, Bangalore and H H Sir Sri Ramananda Saraswathi Swamigal. The Bhajan series was a grand success and 2010 marked the end of a triumphant decade giving birth to another invigorating era of Bhajan Uthsavams at NãmaSmaran.
